A friend of mine wanted to travel to the Philippines and asked me, “during covid times, what is the best company to get my travel insurance?”
I said, “based on my client’s experiences, the best one is the one that gives you the least headache when it comes to claiming.” He asked me, “what do you mean?”
There are many companies out there where they can provide the same products. Since Covid-19 insurance is a bundled product, they are pretty expensive. The bottom line is the end service. Will they be there for you 24/7 when you need them?
As an independent broker, I don’t work for a specific company. I have access to multiple travel insurance providers. Each company provides protection anywhere you travel around the world. However, if you are traveling to the Philippines, I suggest using a company that provides jobs to Filipinos and has an office in the Philippines.
Typically, I would not mention any company (because this is my private blog page), but the company would be Manulife for full disclosure.
A Manulife travel insurance would include the following
COVERAGE | LIMIT |
---|---|
Emergency Medical Insurance for Non-COVID‑19 related medical conditions | Up to $5,000,000 CAD per insured |
Emergency Medical Insurance for COVID‑19 and related conditions after a positive test result while at the destination, including Emergency Air Transport to return you home | Up to $1,000,000 CAD per insured(Up to $5,000,000 CAD if your clients have received the full course of immunization for COVID‑19 that is authorized by Health Canada before their coverage effective date) |
Quarantine expenses after a COVID‑19 positive test result denied entry, or contact tracing while at the destination. | $200/day up to $2,800 per person, or $400/day up to $5,600 per family (Maximum duration of 14 days) |
